What's On in Oxford This Week for Mums and Babies
10 February 2025 · MumAlly Team
One of the things that surprises new mums in Oxford is just how much is on for babies and small children — once you know where to look. Here's a roundup of what's happening this week.
This is exactly the kind of thing MumAlly makes easy to find all in one place, filtered to your baby's age and your area. But here's a taster of what's out there.
Baby Groups & Stay-and-Play
Rhyme Time at Jericho Arts Centre
When: Wednesday, 10:00am
Where: Jericho Arts Centre, 56 Walton St, Oxford OX2 6AE
Cost: Free · Ages: 0–2 years
A classic Oxford baby group — 30 minutes of songs, nursery rhymes, and a chance to chat over a cup of tea afterwards. Usually busy, so arrive a few minutes early.
Baby & Brew at Dean Court Centre
When: Thursday, 2:00pm
Where: Dean Court Community Centre, Cumnor Hill, Oxford
Cost: £3 · Ages: 0–12 months
A drop-in for parents of younger babies. Informal, friendly, with proper coffee. The Thursday afternoon slot is popular with mums who find the mornings too chaotic.
Classes
Hartbeeps at Headington
When: Tuesday, 9:30am
Where: Old Headington Village Hall
Cost: £9 per class (block booking available) · Ages: 0–18 months
A sensory music class with props, puppets, and lights. A little more structured than a drop-in, and worth it if your baby responds well to stimulation.
Baby Yoga at Summertown
When: Monday, 11:00am
Where: Summertown Baptist Church Hall
Cost: £8 · Ages: 6 weeks – 6 months
Gentle yoga poses adapted for babies and their caregivers. Great for tummy time practice and for parents who want something calmer than a sensory class.
Outdoors
Buggy Walk in University Parks
When: Friday, 10:00am
Where: Meet at the South Lodge entrance, Parks Road
Cost: Free · Ages: All ages
An informal weekly walk through the University Parks. Bring a warm coffee and whatever the weather throws at you. Good for babies who sleep better moving — and for parents who need to get out of the house.
Swimming
Parent & Baby Swimming at Barton Pool
When: Saturday, 9:00am and 10:00am
Where: Barton Sports and Leisure Centre
Cost: £5.50 per session · Ages: 0–12 months
A shallow pool session for babies and their parents. Book in advance — this fills up quickly, especially the Saturday morning slots.
